Your Visit to Hingham Dental Associates

Hingham Dental Associates welcomes new patients. Our goal is to help you to achieve and maintain a healthy smile. Like many doctors’ offices, as a new patient there are a few forms to fill out. We have streamlined this process by enabling you to download and print the forms at home so you can complete them at your convenience.

When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by our office coordinator. Our office coordinator will review the forms and assist you with any questions you may have. If you have dental insurance please bring a copy of the card with you.

Your first dental visit is typically scheduled with one of our registered dental hygienists. The sixty-minute appointment allows the hygienist to review your medical and dental histories, take any necessary x-rays, complete an initial screening exam to assess your dental and periodontal health, and provide a dental prophylaxis.

All new patients are scheduled with one of our dentists for a comprehensive examination. During the exam, the doctor will thoroughly review your X-rays, and chart existing fillings, restorations, cavities, and broken and/or missing teeth. The doctor will perform a periodontal exam, an occlusal evaluation, and a soft tissue and oral cancer screening. With all this information the doctor will develop a treatment plan with you. Larger treatment plans can be spaced over time prioritizing your most urgent needs first. If no treatment is needed the exam provides a baseline of your overall health which allows our providers to detect changes or problems more easily during future visits.

Same-Day Dental Emergencies

If you have a dental emergency your first visit will be scheduled with the dentist. At Hingham Dental Associates, we reserve openings in our daily schedule to accommodate dental emergencies. If you are experiencing any discomfort, call our office right away to schedule an emergency appointment with Dr. Pellegrino or his associate.
